The Cisco MDS 9148 Multilayer Fabric Switch is a high-performance storage networking solution from the tried-and-tested MDS 9148 series, designed for demanding SAN environments in data centres. With 32 active Fibre Channel ports and an impressive throughput of 4.7 Tbps, this Cisco MDS 9148 provides the necessary bandwidth for data-intensive workloads and virtualised infrastructures.
As a multilayer fabric switch, the device supports advanced SAN functions such as virtual SANs, zoning and Quality of Service across multiple OSI layers. The compact 1U form factor enables space-saving installation in a rack, whilst the energy-efficient architecture keeps operating costs low. The Cisco MDS 9148 integrates seamlessly into existing Fibre Channel fabrics and, thanks to its non-blocking architecture, delivers consistent performance even under full load. Centralised management via Cisco Data Centre Network Manager significantly simplifies the management of complex storage networks.
