The Cisco Nexus 5596UP bundle, comprising six Nexus 2248TP GE extenders, provides a high-performance fabric solution for demanding data centre environments. This combination, based on the tried-and-tested Nexus 5000 Series, enables a highly dense network infrastructure with flexible connectivity options for modern data centre architectures.
The central Cisco Nexus 5596UP Switch offers 48 universal SFP+ ports that support both 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel over Ethernet. Supplemented by the six Nexus 2248TP Fabric Extenders, a total of 288 additional Gigabit Ethernet ports are available, which are centrally managed via the FEX concept. This architecture significantly simplifies network management and reduces administrative overhead through uniform configuration on the parent Switch. The rack-mountable design ensures space-saving integration into existing infrastructures, whilst Unified Fabric technology consolidates Ethernet and storage traffic onto a single platform.
