Cisco’s Integrated Services Routers (ISR), particularly the well-known ISR series, offer an ideal solution for enterprise edges, branch offices or remote sites. These routers combine routing, security, voice functions and WAN services in a single platform. The ISR-4000 series, in particular, delivers multicore performance, cloud integration and WAN flexibility – ideal when reliable routing combined with high service density is required.
For scenarios requiring very high throughput and aggregation, the Cisco ASR (Aggregation Services Router) is the first choice. ASR-1000 models deliver strong performance, scalability options and support for modern protocols – suitable for large sites, carrier networks or complex enterprise architectures. With their modular design and high port densities, they can efficiently meet routing and WAN requirements.
In addition, there are traditional Cisco routers that do not necessarily belong to the ISR or ASR families but continue to play an important role – for example, in older installations or highly specialised applications.
